A Place to Call Home

Divider Swipe, Design Element

Since 1984, our residential services have provided safe, supportive homes where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can live as independently and meaningfully as possible. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to build positive relationships within their communities and have a sense of belonging.

Day Program

Our Approach

Our dedicated and professional staff focuses on a person-centered approach, empowering residents to learn and grow. We provide training and assistance with everyday tasks like cooking, cleaning, laundry, and shopping, based on each person’s unique needs and goals. We are committed to fostering personal development in a way that is supportive of individual choice and promotes self-advocacy.

Residential Services include:

  • Individualized Home Supports: For those who live in their own homes—whether alone, with family, or with a roommate—we offer personalized, one-on-one support tailored to their specific needs.
  • Community Living Arrangements: Our group homes offer a welcoming and communal atmosphere. We operate five homes in Enfield, East Windsor, and South Windsor, each staffed according to the needs of the three to six individuals who reside there.

Healthcare & Wellness

We are committed to providing a safe and healthy living environment. Our residents benefit from professional nursing oversight and behavioral support, with consultative services from community medical practitioners to ensure their well-being.

Admission & Referrals

Our admission process is designed to ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition. The process includes the following steps and requirements:

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Referral & Assessment: We review records and medical history, and conduct a visit to the proposed community home as part of the referral process.
  • Trial Period: A one-month trial stay is required before final admission to ensure the best fit for the individual.
  • Referrals are subject to approval by Allied Community Services, Inc. and the State of Connecticut, Department of Developmental Disabilities.

Ensuring Success at Home

Every individual who joins our residential community receives personalized support from day one, including:

Individualized Planning: After admission, we collaborate with each individual and their support team to assess their skills and create a comprehensive service plan.

Goal Setting: We set meaningful goals focused on key areas such as social skills, vocational development, functional academics, personal hygiene, and community integration.
