Advocating for Change, Together

Divider Swipe, Design Element

Established in 2005, our Self-Advocacy Group, an official chapter of People First of CT, empowers adults with disabilities to advocate for themselves and others. It is a community where every individual is respected for their abilities and treated as an equal. The group provides a platform for members to gain confidence, build leadership skills, and create positive change.

Day Program

Our Approach

This group, affectionately known as “Together We Can,” offers a supportive environment where members can learn to speak up and share their perspectives. Monthly meetings feature engaging guest speakers and discussions on topics that matter to members, such as:

  • Employment and career development
  • Living independently in the community
  • Personal health and well-being
  • Civic engagement and legislative awareness
  • Leisure and recreational activities

Beyond the meetings, the group also organizes community service projects, collecting items for local people and organizations in need.
