Sports & Recreation

The Allied Sports and Recreation departments support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with year-long social and physical activities. These programs are not funded by the State of Connecticut and rely solely on grants, corporate giving, fundraisers, and donations from generous individuals like you.

Corporate Givin

Companies and foundations have the opportunity to demonstrate commitment and social responsibility by investing in Allied’s mission.

Annual and Monthly Giving

Annual donations make an impact where it’s needed the most. Donors can support Allied’s programs and services with a monthly gift that will create opportunities for people with disabilities.

Tributes and Memorial Gifts

Commemorate special occasions – birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and retirements – with a tribute to a loved one or a staff member. For someone who has passed away, donors may consider a memorial gift in their name.

Ruth Bonney Dream Fund

The Ruth Bonney Dream Fund was established in March 2012 to enable individuals with intellectual disabilities to participate in a greater variety of cultural, recreational, travel, and other opportunities in and around their communities.  The Ruth Bonney Dream Fund is for the benefit of participants in the Allied Rehabilitation Centers’ Residential Program who have limited financial means.  Participants may request assistance from the fund for things such as trips, sporting events, theater excursions, personal items, classes, and special events.

The Ruth Bonney Dream Fund is managed by the Director of Corporate Accounting of Allied Community Services and overseen by a committee that reviews all requests.  One hundred percent of all donations to the Ruth Bonney Dream Fund will go directly to benefit people with intellectual disabilities.

The Ruth Bonney Dream Fund was established to honor the memory of Ruth Bonney, a visionary teacher of people with disabilities who saw potential in everyone.

Special Events

Seasonal fundraising events present opportunities for sponsorship by donating items or gift certificates to raffle off. It also provides an opportunity to celebrate the joy of helping others.

Allied’s Attic

Allied’s Attic is a local thrift store. Our processing center and thrift store provide employment opportunities for your neighbors, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
